COMPUTER & ROBOTIC-ASSISTED SURGERY

STEP 3

WHAT IS COMPUTER-ASSISTED SURGERY?

Computer Assisted Surgery allows surgeons to see a virtual image of hip or knee during surgery. During hip replacement the computer tracks accurate cup placement and equal limb lengths. During knee replacement Computer Assisted Surgery allows the surgeon to monitor limb alignment and implant placement; Instead of “Measure twice, cut once”, CAS allows the surgeon to continuously monitor alignment, length and implant position.

WHAT IS ROBOTIC-ASSISTED SURGERY?

Robot Assisted Surgery also tracks alignment , length and implant position and provides live virtual images. During Robot Assisted Surgery the computer has some control over the surgical instruments. The robot assists the surgeon performing key steps of the the operation consistently and precisely according to plan.
